      Description

      Dear Everyone,

Thank you so much for your prompt responds so far from my previous request. I write with respect to the Age aspect. The situation behind the age issue is that here in Nigeria people see it as a big deal or pride to tell someone their date of birth and so they may just round up the age and say " i am 50years old " instead of November 11 1965. So my question is, Is there no way that we can only input the age as "50" in this case and not the Full date of birth?

        Improvement:

        • add Age field, YYY MM, e.g_ 45 years 6 months_
        • When this field is completed, the system must calculate the Patient's DOB, and check the Estimated field

        Hello lemoene,

This age issue is preventing patient demographics from being done properly, remember i said that here in Nigeria people rarely tell you their age and referring hospitals dont include age in the analysis request form, they only write Adult or Child in the form and this is not helpful.

Please am asking is there no way that this age something will not be labeled compulsory on the patient demographics page because clients are complain about it and would not want to adopt Bika Health or LIMS if this is not sorted out.

        Thanks

We'd rather want to fix it properly. I can get a quote on this and have it prioritised. Won't be big. At the moment we are very busy with Clients in production and won't find spare time to do it for free. I'll ask.

I think the patient's date of birth is only used in patient lists and for the calculation of the "Patient Age at Case Onset Date" (in clinical case add form).
I suggest to replace the field "Birth date estimated" for "Age estimated" with a check box. When the check box is ticked (estimated is true), the field "Age (Year, Month, day)" is displayed (only the year compulsory). When the checkbox is unticked (estimated is false), the field "Birth date" is displayed instead. See attached image.

In both patients lists and "Patient Age at Case Onset Date", we can manage the field accordingly when the age is estimated, thus calculating only the year as if the patient was born in Jan
