Instrument imports for the same AS 'keyword' from different instruments...

      Description

      We'll bump into this scenario in other labs too, and it'll be handy to resolve it neatly soonest.

      Use case

      Calcium can be analysed on more than one instrument, albeit for different Sample Types, but will be reported by both instruments, in this case ICP for water and XRF for rock samples, as Ca and because it is a simple element on the periodic table the instruments do not allow for it to be edited on the instrument itself.

      These are also represented by different ASs in the LIMS, let's call them Ca ICP and Ca XRF

      A possible solution, please comment and improve

      • Configure the Ca ICP and Ca XRF Analysis Services with LIMS keywords CaICP and CaXRF
      • Configure each instrument with an Instrument Import Postfix or some such, in this case ICP and XRF repectively
      • When the results file is imported, concatenate the 'keyword' read from the file with the instrument postfix, e.g. Ca + ICP to form a string CaICP to look up the appropriate Analysis in the system

      There could be better ways to do it... Suggestions please & quote Jordi

          weird, the 2-step wizard (see LIMS-1828) could fix this problem. Without wizard, adding a multi-select field in the form and let the user select the analyses to look for matches there could do the job.

          Approach 1: By using the 3-step wizard import suggested in LIMS-1828

          • Add a selection list on each grid row from the import preview, but only if multiple matches with analyses
          • Apply the analysis selection in the rawResults data source for that row
          • Modifications in the generic import code.

          Approach 2: Multi-select field in the import form

          • Add a multi-select field to allow the user to select the analysis to look for matches.
          • Modifications in the generic import code. Try to find matches only with the analyses selected.
          • Note: the system will only incorporate the results for the analyses set in the multi-select.
